No. 1: Tight end Hunter Henry

Most Panthers fans were expecting to hear a retirement speech from tight end Greg Olsen this offseason. Instead, they were blindsided by a Luke Kuechly departure.

While there hasn’t been any talk about Olsen’s 2020 plans just yet there is no doubt he is in the twilight years of his stellar career.

Carolina would be smart to think ahead and acquire a young pass-catching tight end whether Olsen decides to return or not.

Los Angeles Chargers’ Hunter Henry would be a great fit. Henry has been regarded as a top ten receiving tight end since he was drafted in the second round of the 2016 draft.

Henry’s talent cannot be denied when he is on the field. The knock on him has been his durability and injury concerns.  Henry missed four games last year after missing an entire season the year prior with a torn ACL.

Henry is worth the risk since he will be more than two years removed from knee surgery when the 2020 regular season begins.

If Olsen does return next year the Panthers could own the best one-two combo at tight end and run two tight end sets similar to what the Philadelphia Eagles ran in 2019.

If Olsen retires, then the Panthers could replace him with one of the league’s best up and coming players at the position in Henry.
