Taking A Dive? No.

Do we need to revisit how bad the defense was in 2019? What about special teams? Should I also add some salt to the wounds by reminding everyone that one of our former seventh-round picks just kicked his way to a Super Bowl victory?

What kind of sense does it make for the team to deliberately lose games and alienate all of the players that do their best to help win games? What would 2021 free agents and draftees think if they knew the Panthers were the kind of team that wasted people’s time to chase one player?

Most importantly, how much would the impact of throwing away Cam Newton’s last season with the Panthers be if they ended up drafting someone other than a quarterback? The draft process depends on players being healthy and having an outstanding combine. If there is any reason that the Panthers should go in a different direction then they likely will.
