Carolina Panthers: Luke Kuechly would thrive as a color analyst
As Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly enjoys retirement from actively playing pro football, he would make for one heck of a color analyst broadcasting games.
When news broke that Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly was retiring, it came as a shock to fans all across the globe. One of the best linebackers to ever wear a Panthers uniform decided to retire at the young age of just 28 years old. As always, all we can do is respect his decision and remember all the incredible memories he provided us over his prolific career. He’s no doubt a future member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Kuechly has undoubtedly been enjoying life after football as the dust has settled over the last few months. The Panthers acted quickly to try and find players to fill the void but obviously, it won’t be easy to find anyone to replace the impact Kuechly brought to the gridiron week in, week out.
What happens now with Kuechly since his playing days are now officially behind him? Well, like many players before him, he has plenty of options to pursue if he wants to stick around the sport he loves the most. Many players that retired decided to try their hand as a color analyst and it tends to bring a plethora of success in the right situation. In Kuechly’s case, you’re still kind of in football but in a whole new role which for many, can be just as exciting.

In the grand scheme of things, Kuechly would bring an interesting and refreshing take on being a color analyst breaking down pro football games. He’s played for eight years and would bring a great amount of experience to any broadcast booth, especially since he’s a household name.
As a matter of fact, considering the major success (and big money) former quarterback Tony Romo has been enjoying right after retirement, it would be great to see Kuechly take a similar path.
In an article written by Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com, here is what Kuechly said about whether or not he’ll consider joining a broadcasting booth or some kind of behind-the-scenes role in the future:
"“I think when guys come in on Fridays and Saturdays and you talk to the production crew, you talk to guys like (Jason) Witten and guys that have played, like (Tony) Romo, and Ronde (Barber) … Those guys, you can tell that they played at a high level and they still have the ability to stay involved with the game,” Kuechly told Tirico. “I think that part is something that’s attractive to me.”"
That’s the biggest thing that might entice Kuechly to consider analyzing football on a premium outlet. It’s something new, different, and could end up being a fun experience if he’s able to land on a top network that wants to bring a new voice to coverage. Not only would he bring a unique perspective to the table but his reputation alone is an immediate draw to football fans. Kuechly made his presence known every single time he stepped foot on the field as one can only imagine how good of a job he can do covering football games.
Overall, even though we’ll all miss Kuechly on game day, it would be a great sight to see him in the broadcast booth color commentating NFL games in the future. Who knows, maybe we’ll see him again on Sundays but in an entirely different role to start an exciting new chapter in his life.
