The Carolina Panthers have good depth at the wide receiver position heading into the 2020 NFL Draft, but they could still pick up a development prospect in the later rounds.

The 2020 NFL Draft class is one of the deepest in recent memory at the wide receiver position. This is not a position of need for the Carolina Panthers. But they would be prudent not to at least consider a development prospect with one of their later selections.

There is no getting away from just how special this group of college receivers could be. The group is absolutely loaded and littered with playmakers that can succeed at the next level.

Head coach Matt Rhule has an embarrassment of riches after making some bold moves in free agency. Robby Anderson arrived from the New York Jets on a two-year, $20 million contract that included an $8 million signing bonus and $12 million guaranteed.

He is expected to line up opposite D.J. Moore in the starting lineup, with Pharoh Cooper, Damion Jeanpiere Jr., Brandon Zylstra, and Ishmael Hyman also expected to fight for time on the field during training camp.

There is also Curtis Samuel’s situation to consider. The player is heading into the final year of his rookie deal and speculation mounts as to whether the Panthers are exploring trade possibilities regarding the player.

If the decision-makers in Carolina decide to move Samuel on, they will need another energetic presence that can come from relative obscurity into a prolific NFL player.

Here are six prospects that warrant consideration later this month.
