The Carolina Panthers held video meetings with college prospects who have caught the eye during the evaluation process, but what could they bring to the franchise?

The Carolina Panthers enlisted the help of technology to familiarize themselves with potential NFL Draft targets.

They have been holding video conferencing with prospects of interest to get a better feel about their ambitions and character. This is due to social distancing measures implemented by the government due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The ever-changing situation surrounding COVID-19 has thrown a spanner into the draft plans of every NFL team in recent weeks. With a virtual format also confirmed by the NFL, it remains to be seen how this is going to impact how organizations approach things differently.

This is a pivotal draft for the Panthers and one that will go a long way to determining the length of their current rebuild. They are in a prime position to pick one of the more elite college products with the No.7 pick and may have everyone barring Ohio State standout Chase Young on their radar.

It is clear Carolina needs significant reinforcements on defense if they are to stand any chance of keeping pace with the formidable trio of teams awaiting them in the NFC South in 2020. There is no margin for error from the decision-makers and that is why video conferencing prospects is the smart thing to do.

The Panthers have just eight selections going into the draft. But there is the possibility of them trading down for more picks. Finding some diamonds in the rough is also going to be pivotal for their overall chances next term.

Here are five prospects they have reportedly spoken to in recent weeks and what they can bring to the franchise.
