Anonymous coach predicts Cam Newton will lead Raiders to NFL Playoffs
An anonymous coach gave his thoughts on how various teams could benefit from signing free agent quarterback Cam Newton to their roster. If it’s the Las Vegas Raiders, they’re going to the NFL Playoffs.
As the offseason continues for teams across the NFL, it’s about that time of year where rumors will fly everywhere. If it’s not about trading up or down in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, it’s about where some of the top free agents could potentially land. At this point in time, former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is still trying to find a new place to call home.
Of course, news could break at any time as to where Newton will ultimately end up but patience is key for this brand new process he’s dealing with. He’s called Carolina home for almost a decade as this is unfamiliar territory for him. Hopefully, he’ll find a great team to fit with that will give him an opportunity to compete for a starting role. Even after quite some time gone by in free agency, many believe that the Las Vegas Raiders would be such a team that both sides would benefit from.
Even an anonymous coach believes if such a move were to happen, the Raiders would become a playoff-contending team. In an article written by Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, an anonymous AFC assistant coach confirmed that if Newton were to be signed by the Raiders, they’d make the playoffs with him under center.

In the grand scheme of things, if Newton were to sign with the Raiders in a one-year “prove it” kind of deal, it would be a great situation for both sides. Yes, his health remains to be verified that he can still play at a starting level but all accounts indicate that he’s been rehabbing himself to be ready for the upcoming season.
If Newton passes a medical exam and shows he hasn’t missed a beat, he’d be a perfect fit for the Raiders. He’d bring a whole new dimension to their offense and would have a ton to prove after being released the way he was by the Panthers. The fact that they did that to him will undoubtedly light a fire in his heart to prove them and all naysayers wrong.
Newton has playoff and Super Bowl experience on top of owning many franchise passing records with the Panthers. If Newton can still get the job done, he’d be an upgrade over anyone currently on the roster and would bring excitement to a team about to enter a new era in the Entertainment Capital of the World.
Overall, Newton to the Raiders would work out pretty well as long as he’s healthy and ready to deliver. The Raiders have had too much inconsistency at quarterback and taking a chance on Newton might be that missing piece to the puzzle. If they get the version of Newton that dominated the NFL back in 2015, the Raiders will easily be the team to watch in 2020.
