Tua Tagovailoa – (Alabama)

All eyes were on former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa during this year’s NFL Draft process. The signs of a return to health are encouraging and could see the player drafted in the first three picks.

Tagovailoa enjoyed a prolific college career at Alabama. After beating out Jalen Hurts to be the school’s starting quarterback, he threw for 3,966 yards, 43 touchdowns, and six interceptions during the 2018 season.

He followed this up with 2,840 yards, 33 touchdowns and just three interceptions in 2019 before his campaign ended abruptly due to a serious hip injury. Since then, much has been made about his ability to come back from such a horrific injury and have a lasting career in the NFL.

Before his injury, Tagovailoa was being talked about as the next great quarterback and a transcendent talent. He has a rare ability to make things happen either from the pocket or on the run and can make any throw he wants.

One major concern is his durability. Tagovailoa has posted some impressive workout videos in the hope of dispelling any doubts surrounding his fitness. But due to social distancing measures, NFL teams will be unable to get their own doctors to assess the player. So it will just be a case of taking a shot in the relative dark and hoping for the best.

The Carolina Panthers would probably have to trade up for Tagovailoa and with only eight selections, the chances of this appear slim. What will be more intriguing is if the player falls into their lap at No.7.
