Former Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton has been keeping himself busy away from football with a new TV show.

Cam Newton has used his free time well by adding another string to his ever-increasing bow away from the NFL. The former Carolina Panthers quarterback has been filming a television series for a new network in an executive producer role.

The 2015 NFL Most Valuable Player has played a leading role for “Iron Sharpens Iron”, which is set debut on Quibi next Monday (April 20).

Newton has enlisted the help of some big sporting stars to get his new show off the ground. Rising NBA sensation Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks will appear in an episode, as will new Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon.

Others scheduled to lend their support are golfer Michell Wie baseball player Justin Turner, tennis star Sloane Stephens, gifted volleyballer Kerri Walsh-Jennings, and former heavyweight champion of the world Andy Ruiz Jr.

The show’s aim is to pair athletes from different sports and allow viewers to delve into training secrets that help them reach the very top of their game.

Newton has been on a prolonged break from football-related activities due to a foot injury that saw him end 2019 on injured reserve. The player was subsequently released by the Panthers in a messy break-up with the former No.1 pick after free-agent quarterback Teddy Bridgewater signed a three-year deal with the franchise.

He is still without an NFL team, thanks in no small part to the timing of his departure from Carolina. Newton is expected to come back fully healthy in 2020 after successful surgery and a good break away from the field.

Quibi is a new subscription-based streaming platform that delivers scripted and non-scripted shows averaging about seven to 10 minutes each.

The app is available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. It comes with a 90-day free trial that’s available until April 30.
