What would Delpit bring to the Panthers?

Delpit is a hard worker who was very consistent in college. He also has the right blend of size, speed, and athleticism that has made him a big hit with NFL scouts during the evaluation process.

He is a born-winner who managed to attain First-Team All-SEC recognition in consecutive seasons at LSU during the final two years of his college career. Delpit comes into the NFL on a high after scooping unanimous All-American honors and the Jim Thorpe Award in 2019.

The player’s physicality at the safety spot is a rare trait and is sure to make a solid transition to the next level. There is a real chance Delpit can become a day one starter in the NFL and he also has the ability to play multiple positions if required.

This would be highly beneficial to the Carolina Panthers, who are incredibly threadbare when it comes to defensive depth. Delpit’s potential arrival would bring instant credibility and a winning mentality to a defense that went through its fair share of struggles in 2019.

Whether the Panthers will be available to select Delpit with the 38th overall selection is up for debate. His skill-set and tenacity have gone down well with evaluators and it would be a big surprise if he lasted until then.

One way the franchise could go is to trade down from the No. 7 spot for more than their eight current Draft picks and perhaps take Delpit later on in the first round.
