Jamal Adams has once again voiced his displeasure with the New York Jets, but should the Carolina Panthers consider trading for the safety?

Outspoken safety Jamal Adams is reportedly unhappy with the New York Jets and is looking for a way out of the franchise.

This is an area of need for the Carolina Panthers after releasing Eric Reid this offseason. But would the franchise be open to trading for the sixth overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft?

There is little doubt that Adams would instantly upgrade the safety position in Carolina. The organization re-signed Tre Boston to a three-year, $18 million deal this offseason and brought in Juston Burris from the Cleveland Browns. But more depth is going to be crucial if the Panthers have any chance of remaining relevant in the NFC South next season.

Adams was picked two spots ahead of All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey. His latest outburst came after the player agreed to terms on a four-year, $64 million contract extension that makes him the highest-paid back in NFL history.

This did not sit well with Adams heading into the final year of his rookie deal. He is due to make just $825,000 in base salary in 2020 and count $7.17 million against the Jets’ salary cap.

Any trade involving Adams would surely come with a new contract. The Panthers are up against it financially in 2020 thanks in no small part to their extraordinary dead cap figure, which is north of $48 million.

This leaves their chances of getting the player the deal he wants as slim. But if there is a verbal agreement between the two sides then it is an option worth exploring.
