The Carolina Panthers need to boost their defensive front in the 2020 NFL Draft, but which pass-rushing specialists are worth considering?

Things are going to look bleak for the Carolina Panthers in 2020 if they do not significantly reinforce their defense during the 2020 NFL Draft. They have lost some key figures during the offseason that has left them with little depth at any spot on the field.

Carolina’s decision-makers spent the majority of their free-agent money on improving the offensive side of the ball. This includes bringing in quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and wide receiver Robby Anderson, in addition to extending All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey.

Now the focus must turn to the defense to give them a good chance of surprising a few when competitive action gets back underway. The Panthers lost Gerald McCoy, Dontari Poe and Vernon Butler from their defensive line, which might end up being a good thing as the franchise looks to go younger.

The incoming defensive end class is short of top-end talent. But that is not to say there aren’t some diamonds in the rough in the mid-to-late rounds. It will be up to the Panthers coaching team to identify what players can fit their scheme well and make the instant impression they are looking for.

This is a pivotal draft for the organization and one they must get right to ease their expected transitional campaign in 2020. Some bold moves could be made by the franchise. But they will be wary of gambling their future in the pursuit of a potentially generational talent.

Here are six players that will be worth considering.
