Jason Strowbridge – (North Carolina)

Jason Strowbridge is no stranger to the Carolina Panthers’ fanbase after a superb career with the tar heels. He projects to be a mid-round selection with a high amount of upside that can operate as a 3-4 defensive end or on the interior.

These are two positions of great need for the Panthers and Strowbridge’s versatility will be welcome. Having someone like Kawann Short to lean on for guidance would also do wonders for his long-term prospects at the next level.

The standout feature of Strowbridge’s game is his run-stopping, which is exemplary. He is an imposing figure who has the ability to get off blocks and wrap up backs incredibly well.

He is absolutely relentless in his pursuit of the quarterback on passing downs, which makes up for his lack of speed. Strowbridge can also play with heavy hands if needed which is going to go down very well in the pros.

Strowbridge does have some flaws in his game. The way he changes direction appears immobile and this causes complications. He also lacks explosiveness and his footwork also needs coaching up going forward.

Not putting too much pressure on Strowbridge immediately would be more prudent for any team that drafts him. There is real potential there with a little refinement and if the player can decide what position on the defensive line he wants to permanently play and improve accordingly, then a promising career could be in the offing.
