Nick Coe – (Auburn)

Another player that would fit in well with the Carolina Panthers’ 3-4 defense is Auburn product Nick Coe.

One thing that might put of some teams regarding Coe is the struggles he suffered during his final college season. The player had his fair share of injury frustrations that hampered his ability to make plays consistently on the field.

Providing he has rid himself of these problems, then Coe should be a mid-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. There is much to like about his ability to make an impact when he is firing on all cylinders.

Playing in a number of different roles for the Tigers has also had a detrimental effect on his ability to produce. He will need to focus primarily on the defensive end position when he gets to the pros.

Coe has heavy hands and extends his body well at the point of attack to get away from NFL offensive lineman. He lacks elite quickness and tends to have trouble when trying to go around players to reach the quarterback.

His tackling also has room for improvement. But there is a good scope there from which to build and he makes for an enticing proposition for any coach that is looking to maximise the player’s potential.

If Coe were to learn what it takes to be a successful defensive lineman from someone as prolific as Kawann Short, then it could be just the spark he needs.
