Legendary linebacker Luke Kuechly is holding an educational event for students to enjoy from the comfort of their own home today.
Former Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly is holding an online learning session for children across the country.
The legendary figure announced his shock retirement after eight seasons with the Panthers this offseason. This represents a huge blow for the franchise and has left the decision-makers with an almost impossible void to fill.
Kuechly has vowed to keep himself busy in retirement. He has even contemplated the prospect of coaching in the not-too-distant future.
He will now participate in a virtual classroom exercise hosted by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools at noon on Monday. The initiative is free and open to the public for any student to tune in.
The half-hour session will begin with Kuechly quizzing students taking part in the lesson. This will be followed by a question and answer session where those viewing will get the chance to ask anything they want to the five-time All-Pro selection.
Kuechly will round off the virtual session by putting students through their paces with a short workout to finish on a high.
All ages can tune in by going to Facebook.com/ProCamps. It will also be shared on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Facebook page.
Kuechly’s rookie season saw him rack up 164 combined tackles, 104 of which were solo. He also secured eight pass deflections, a sack, and two interceptions to win the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year.
If his first year in the league was good, the 2013 campaign was even better. Kuechly was a dominant force throughout the season on his way to 156 total tackles (93 solo), four interceptions, two sacks, and seven pass deflections.
This saw him secure the distinction of NFL Defensive Player of the Year in just his second season. The same elite standard continued throughout Kuechly’s career with the Panthers and resulted in him securing some lofty numbers before eventually calling it a day.
His 1,092 combined tackles (690 solo) from 118 games are just extraordinary. The player also attained 12.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, 18 interceptions, and 65 pass deflections to further highlight his overall influence on the organization.
