The Carolina Panthers have plenty of options with their early 2020 NFL Draft selections, but which players should they be targeting in the second round?

All eyes will be on the Carolina Panthers’ decision-makers during the 2020 NFL Draft. It promises to be a pivotal one for the franchise and one that could define their future.

With just eight selections at their disposal, they are going to need some big-time home runs if they are going to improve their chances of a successful rebuild. General manager Marty Hurney has a tremendous record of finding diamonds in the rough throughout his time with the franchise. But it remains to be seen whether he can do the same this time around.

This is expected to be one of the deepest drafts in recent memory across a variety of positions. With so much invested in the Panthers’ offense during free agency. One would think that defense would be their primary concern for at least their first two or three selections.

There is plenty of projected second-rounders coming out of college this year that can make an instant impact at the next level. The Panthers have the No. 38 spot and will need to choose wisely from the expected vast array of options available to them.

Their lack of salary cap space means Carolina is going to have to bring in prospects who can be day-one starters in the pros. They can be hard to find and the process has become especially difficult during this year’s evaluation process thanks to social distancing measures relating to the coronavirus pandemic.

Here are five projected second-round picks that the Panthers could target.
