The charitable foundation of Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper has made another large donation to support coronavirus pandemic relief efforts.

Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper has donated a significant amount to aid support the ongoing battle relating to the coronavirus pandemic.

The David A. Tepper Foundation recently gave $2.65 million for assistance within the Carolinas and other areas of the country last month. This takes the organization’s total contributions to 22 million, according to Forbes.

His efforts are mainly focused on North Carolina and New Jersey, two areas that Tepper has spent considerable time in. The Panthers owner has been a keen contributor to relief funds over the years and has an estimated wealth of $12 billion.

Speaking to Forbes, Tepper had this to say.

"“Generally when you have a (hurricane), people have lost their possessions and everything else, but in a month or so, they’re back to work and there’s rebuilding that’s going on. Here, it’s people losing their ability to make money, and that time period doesn’t have a certain end, which also creates a specific challenge for what you do with any kind of philanthropy… You want to see how long this lasts, what the government response is, but there’s some things you know you need to do now, and some things you know that will not be covered.”"

Tepper also called on “those that have the ability” to step up and lend their support to the ongoing relief efforts during COVID-19. His immediate concern is food distribution and how money can get into the hands of needy individuals and families at the earliest opportunity.

Although Tepper did not tell Forbes how much more he will be donating to coronavirus relief efforts, it is expected to be a significant amount.

Tepper has been busy behind the scenes with the Panthers since the end of the season, most notably with their planned new headquarters in Rock Hill that is going to move the team’s base from Charlotte to South Carolina in the coming years.
