3. Defensive Tackle

The Carolina Panthers lost a significant part of their defensive line interior this offseason. This is something that needs to be rectified during the NFL Draft.

Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy moved onto pastures new, which might actually be a good thing for the team’s long-term prospects. Both players looked complacent and past their peak in 2019, so some fresh blood is essential.

Auburn’s standout defensive tackle Derrick Brown has been projected by many to land with the Panthers at No.7. He is a one-man wrecking crew that has all the making of a Pro Bowl talent at the next level.

If the decision-makers decide to trade down and take someone later in the first round, the South Carolina stud Javon Kinlaw is sure to be high on their shortlist. There aren’t many college prospects that have had a better evaluation process than him and he would warrant serious consideration anywhere outside the top ten.

There is some good value to be had should they focus on other areas with their first-rounder. The likes of Marlon Davidson, Neville Gallimore, and Ross Blacklock could well be around at No. 38 for the Panthers.

Either way, it is vital for the organization to bring in a commanding interior presence that is capable of doing damage from day one.
