Carolina Panthers Draft: 4 possible trade down partners
By Dean Jones
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It is clear that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are all-in on winning now with Tom Brady. They might only have a one-year window with the aging quarterback and it would be prudent for them to take advantage.
Given the Carolina Panthers are an NFC South rivals, the price of moving up into their spot for the Bucs’ would be steep. However, if there is an elite offensive lineman they have become particularly enamored with then the move is a possibility.
Some like Andrew Thomas or Tristan Wirfs would instantly upgrade their offensive tackle positions. There has been speculation of a scramble for the top blocking prospects in the top-ten and Tampa Bay will not want to get left behind.
This is something of a last resort for the Panthers. Enabling the Bucs to get stronger is not going to do their chances of challenging in the NFC South any favors. However, the organization is in the midst of a rebuild and if they can get a significant amount from a rival then it is an option worth considering.
Any such move would be met with derision by the Panthers’ fanbase. They have already seen the Bucs make the biggest free agent move of the offseason by acquiring Brady. And the franchise also set the NFL alight by trading for prolific tight end Rob Gronkowski.
