The Carolina Panthers are hoping all their newly signed undrafted free agents pan out but defensive tackle Myles Adams has the best shot to truly make it.

There are many elite athletes that have made the final roster of a team and thrived for years to come as an undrafted free agent. Yes, you have to work even harder to get noticed but if you have the skill-set and are ready to push the envelope, one can definitely make it. Such is the case with defensive end Myles Adams and the Carolina Panthers.

The 6-2, 290lbs defensive end made a name for himself at Rice where he totaled 94 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 10.5 tackles for a loss. He’s disruptive and saw most of his action as a defensive tackle as he was putting on a clinic when he was on the field doing what he does best.

It’s no secret that the Panthers need help when it comes to their overall pass rush and if it’s anything to know about Adams is that he’d be perfect for it. Not only has Adams proven he can rush the quarterback effectively in four years at Rice, but he’s an extremely smart defender. He’s the kind of athlete that you’ll often find reviewing film to improve his techniques and overall execution as Adams should be ahead of the curve come training camp.

At the time of this writing, the Panthers have come to terms with 17 undrafted free agents. It won’t be easy for Adams to go from a UDFA to the final roster but if anyone has a chance to make it on the Panthers, it’s him. He has the tangibles needed to be molded to the next level and if anything, the Panthers would be wise to use him as quality depth off the bench during the regular season.

As always when it comes to football games that actually matter during the regular season, it’s long and taxing as depth is incredibly important in the grand scheme of things. If Adams can adapt and respond well to coaching and training by the new leadership regime of the Panthers, he could be a hidden gem this offseason. The kind that in a short amount of time, could develop into a potential future starter.

Considering how humble Adams is based on a recent interview over at NFL Draft Diamonds by Damond Talbot, he has a good head on his shoulders and is ready for the task at hand. Based on college highlights, the Panthers are getting a player that works hard, is willing to handle any assignment given to him, and focuses on all the little things to hone his craft as a solid all-around defensive lineman.

Overall, keep an eye on Adams once training camp arrives as he’ll a name worth following as he hopefully puts everything together to prove his worth. Who knows, he could not only make the final roster at the end of training camp but potentially be a key contributor on defense as early as this upcoming season.
