As free agent quarterback Cam Newton is still waiting for the right opportunity, Deion Sanders knows where he should sign to once again be back in the spotlight.

At this point in time, free agent quarterback Cam Newton is still working hard and being ready for when the right opportunity comes along. Now that the 2020 NFL Draft is over and teams are preparing for training camp, there hasn’t been any reported interest yet. All Newton can do is keep working out on his own and hoping that the right team with the right situation comes along to acquire his services.

There haven’t been any rumors of him meeting with any particular team but the jury is still out on whether or not he’s willing to take a back seat. Newton was on the decline over the past few years with the Carolina Panthers and if anything, he might be better off looking into backup roles for now.

Coming off major surgery, Newton, unfortunately, can’t do any physicals with teams due to what is going on in the world which also has put a strain on any potential meetings to prove he’s healthy. At any rate, one major sports personality and Pro Football Hall of Famer has an idea of which team will ultimately benefit by signing Newton to a contract.

Deion Sanders believes Cam Newton will sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars

Live on video at NFL Total Access, Deion Sanders chimed his thoughts on why Newton would thrive if given an opportunity on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are a team that still has a huge question mark when it comes to their quarterback situation as perhaps Newton can bring clarity to the positional group.

Sanders believes since the Jaguars are in dire need of an established quarterback heading into the upcoming season, Newton makes the most sense. Not only does Newton have a plethora of passing records he’s achieved as a quarterback in the NFL but a ton of starting experience when it comes to the postseason.

In the grand scheme of things, Sanders also believes that Newton would likely not want to take a step back and be a backup on any team. Perhaps it’s pride or that based on all his offseason workouts he’s shown on social media so far, Newton is ready to return better than ever before as a definitive starter.

Overall, if Newton makes it all the way to training camp without signing with a new team, he might just have to wait a bit longer before general managers start calling. Who knows, if the Jaguars want to take a chance on a one-year “prove it” kind of deal since it might be worth a shot, Newton could be a pleasant surprise on a new team with everything to prove.
