Vontaze Burfict

It’s hard to believe that Vontaze Burfict hasn’t yet hit 30-years-of-age. To say his career so far has been controversial would be something of an understatement.

The violent linebacker has gone over the top with tackles on countless occasions, something which finally came to a head during the 2019 campaign. Burfict was suspended for the whole season for yet another late hit that has been the trademark of his career so far.

Burfict recently stated that he has worked on his anger issues and will now approach the game in a different way if he gets another shot on another team. Securing a roster spot might be easier said than done given the fact he has shown regression in recent years to couple with his chequered past.

Bringing someone like Burfict to the Carolina Panthers would be jaw-dropping and probably send the wrong message. However, the player would have plenty to prove and he could still have something to offer if returning to anything like his old self.

He also would only cost the veteran minimum, which is right up the Panthers’ alley given their salary cap constraints. One thing Burfict is renowned for is being a prominent and sometimes outspoken leader, which is something that Carolina lost plenty of from their locker room this offseason.
