Panthers Draft: 3 NFC South rival picks that cause concern
By Dean Jones
The Carolina Panthers are seen as also-rans in the NFL South next season, but which rookies could cause the most trouble in 2020?
It proved to be a Carolina Panthers draft that will live long in the memory. The team spent every pick they had on defense and even traded up to land a safety with significant potential in Jeremy Chinn out of Southern Illinois.
This could do their chances of long-term success the world of good as head coach Matt Rhule builds a new ethos and foundation that is set to stand them in good stead for years to come. However, that may not come with immediate success given the strength of the NFC South in 2020.
The New Orleans Saints are once again expected to be challenging for the Vince Lombardi Trophy after a series of high-profile arrivals in free agency and the draft. A dark horse for the Super Bowl now appears to be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who signed legendary quarterback Tom Brady and managed to coax prolific tight end Rob Gronkowski out of retirement with a trade from the New England Patriots.
With the Atlanta Falcons also expected to improve, things look bleak for the Panthers despite their encouraging moves during the offseason. There could be even more to be concerned about if their NFC South rivals strike big from the recent NFL Draft.
There were some eye-catching selections from the Panthers’ rivals. But which three have the most chance of making an instant impact?
