Carolina Panthers named in Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes

What would Lawrence bring to the Carolina Panthers?
Simply put, Trevor Lawrence has everything an NFL team is looking for in a franchise quarterback. He appeared ready for the NFL after just one year under center at Clemson and it would be a huge shock if the prospect wasn’t the first or second player taken next year.
Although Lawrence fell agonizingly short of back-to-back national titles in 2019. He still completed 65.8 percent of his passes on his way to 3,665 passing yards, 36, touchdowns, and eight interceptions.
The standard of competition might have been questionable. But that should not detract from what an incredible player Lawrence has the potential to be. His pocket presence is extraordinary and he has developed an ability to get out of the pocket to make things happen carrying the ball.
This resulted in Lawrence gaining 563 yards on the ground, together with nine touchdowns. This dual-threat quarterback is a current NFL trend and will further boost the player’s stock when he makes the transition to the next level in 2021.
If Teddy Bridgewater fails to live up to his $33 million guaranteed deal, it is going to land the Panthers with a top-five pick at the very least. As was the case with LSU standout Joe Burrow this year, it appears unlikely any team with the No. 1 pick would trade out if Lawrence continues to trend on an upward curve next season.

Having Lawrence and All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey in the Panthers’ backfield is a mouth-watering prospect for their fanbase. There is a lot of football to be played between now and then. But any struggles in 2020 would result in the real chance of taking a generational player that has the potential to significantly shift momentum in a positive direction.
