The Carolina Panthers could use an experienced veteran quarterback to work behind Teddy Bridgewater in 2020, but which free agents are worth considering?

The Carolina Panthers could be in the market for a more experienced starter to provide depth in 2020. They were unable to draft a development project which leaves them with plenty of uncertainty should free-agent signing Teddy Bridgewater suffer an injury.

Carolina did manage to sign XFL standout P.J. Walker to a two-year contract that could be worth $1.56 million should the player reach his potential. There is definitely something to work with regarding the player, who possesses a dual-threat that could come in handy during specialist situations.

Will Grier is slotted as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart. The former third-round pick out of West Virginia hardly set the world alight during his time on the field in 2019 and the jury is still out as to whether he can have a successful career in the NFL.

The Panthers placed a lot of faith in Bridgewater with a multi-million-dollar contract. He also has some quality pieces at his disposal that will stand him in good stead as he looks to make the most out of his starting chance of a starting spot.

There will always be doubts as to how another big lower leg hit is going to impact Bridgewater. A better contingency plan needs to be put in place given the two backup options still have plenty to prove.

Some cheap veteran alternatives still remain on the market. But which players represent a good option for the Panthers in 2020?
