As luck would have it, the Carolina Panthers schedule also sees them making a trip to the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led them to a stunning fourth-quarter fightback to beat the San Francisco 49ers and another bold bid is expected this time around.
Mahomes is a generational talent who is set to become the highest-paid gunslinger in NFL history before competitive action gets back underway. He has a potent offense to call upon that features prolific tight end Travis Kelce and speedy wide receiver Tyreek Hill.
Sammy Watkins and Mecole Hardman remain on the roster and can be valuable contributors when needed. There is also plenty of expectations on the shoulder of first-round running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to further complicate matters for opposing defenses.
The Chiefs defense also showed a marked improvement in 2019 and can now be considered among the league’s best. All this makes for a monumental task for the Panthers at Arrowhead Stadium, one of the last great venues in the NFL.

It would be an extraordinary achievement if Carolina’s young core could topple the Chiefs next season.
