Old North Banter predicts Teddy Bridgewater will have career year
Old North Banter believes that new Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will have the best season of his career in 2020 as they’re completely right.
Right before he suffered a tragic and unfortunate leg/foot injury a few years ago as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, the football world knew that quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was on the rise. He was so sharp, accurate, and such a great locker room leader that it felt like a punch in the gut when he went down with that severe injury that at the time looked like it ended his career.
Bridgewater worked hard in rehab following that injury and eventually was able to go back to what he loved doing in playing pro football. He bounced around a few teams in the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints waiting for the right opportunity to be a high-quality starter again. After proving he’s more than able to be a future franchise quarterback, all eyes will now be on what Bridgewater can do as he’s been given the keys to the Carolina Panthers.
As a free agent, the Panthers brought in Bridgewater on a three-year, $63 million deal. Besides bringing him into the mix, they also surrounded him with a good supporting cast featuring a premier weapon in wide receiver Robby Anderson and are ready to see how he meshes with star running back Christian McCaffrey. Bridgewater will replace Cam Newton under center and bring his own signature style of play to the most important position on the team.

In an article written by Luke Tucker of Old North Banter, he predicted that Bridgewater would not only be a great fit on the Panthers’ offense but that he would have the best season of his career in 2020. I for one completely agree here considering that Bridgewater’s journey in the NFL has led to this point in his life.
Can you imagine how much it hurt Bridgewater to be on top of the football world, making some serious noise with the Vikings only to have it all taken away in a matter of seconds? His leg/foot injury was ruled a freak accident and it set him back many years in what should have been a major playoff run with the Vikings. They were playing great football at the time and with Bridgewater being a big part of that being out indefinitely, it all went downhill from there.
Football is a beautiful sport but is one where unpredictable things can and will happen in a blink of an eye. Bridgewater had to restart his entire football career and wisely took the humble route. No, he wasn’t complaining about being a starting quarterback again but handled everything in stride professionally. He spent the last few years with the Saints learning from a future Pro Football Hall of Famer in Drew Brees and was preparing for something bigger again. Talk about being in an incredible situation before it’s your time to be a starter again somewhere else.
Now, Bridgewater has a golden opportunity to finally get back into the spotlight and prove once and for all that he is more than capable of leading a team towards major success. He showed glimpses of this back in 2015 before it all came crashing down but now, it’s his time once again. The Panthers are in a full rebuild and know that if they can get the player that Bridgewater was just a few years ago, he could be the catalyst of it all in ushering in a new and exciting era for the franchise.
Overall, one can’t help but root hard for Bridgewater after everything he’s been through in life. At one point, he felt his pro football career was all over and to see him get another shot at it is indeed an amazing thing. Bridgewater is a man of integrity, leadership, and above all else, is highly motivated to deliver nothing but the best on his new team. The Panthers and their loyal fan base might very well be in for a huge treat with Bridgewater under center if everything falls into place as he has the potential to be one hell of a quarterback once again.
