Panthers schedule: 3 winnable games in 2020
By Dean Jones
1. Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions could be in line for some improvement in 2020 following a series of moves during the offseason. Much like the Carolina Panthers, this is not expected to transition into an immediate success for the franchise.
The Panthers schedule sees them welcome the Lions to Bank of America Stadium at some stage, which represents a big opportunity to pick up a victory. Matt Patricia’s first season at the helm saw Detroit secure a 3-12-1 record and it remains to be seen what gains can be made next term.
They do have some solid weapons on offense for quarterback Matthew Stafford to work with. The wide receiver tandem of Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. can be productive on their day and Danny Amendola gives them a good outlet in the slot.
This area of the field has also been bolstered by the arrival of Georgia running back De’Andre Swift, who is expected to be a day one starter with enormous potential. Their offensive line is suspect, which is something the Panthers formidable defensive front can exploit on any given down.
The Lions defense now has a cornerback with elite shutdown potential in the form of No. 3 overall pick Jeff Okudah. The rest of the unit looks particularly suspect. So, this could be one of the best chances on the Panthers schedule to gain success.
