If the Carolina Panthers news team is going to be looking for good things to report in 2020, it will most likely come from star running back Christian McCaffrey.

There have been plenty of encouraging Carolina Panthers news this offseason. And none more so that their prized asset agreeing to a new deal.

Christian McCaffrey was rewarded for his exceptional first three seasons as a professional with a four-year extension worth $64 million. This also included a $21 million signing bonus and just over $38 million guaranteed.

This officially makes him the face of the franchise after some key departures such as Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly this offseason. This will raise expectations even further for the player to extend what has been a memorable professional career so far.

If the Vegas oddsmakers are any indication, there will be plenty more good Panthers news surrounding McCaffrey in 2020. The All-Pro is joint-favorite to lead the NFL rushing charts next season with Caesar’s Sportsbook, alongside Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants.

Both players have received an over-under total of 1,249.5 for the upcoming campaign. This is the highest projected total out of all running backs and is a testament of what both McCaffrey and Barkley bring to the table.

Others in contention for the title are Dallas Cowboys standout Ezekiel Elliott, bulldozing back Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Bengals star Joe Mixon and the Minnesota Vikings’ do-it-all sensation Dalvin Cook.

McCaffrey ran for 1,387 yards last season as the Panthers relied heavily on him in all areas of their offense. He propelled himself into MVP contention by securing 1,000-yards rushing and receiving, which put the player in some rarified area in the NFL history books.
