Can McCaffrey become the NFL’s leading rusher in 2020?

If there is going to be any successful Carolina Panthers news from the 2020 season, then Christian McCaffrey is going to have to perform equal to or better than his production last season.

There have been significant changes across all areas of the roster as new head coach Matt Rhule looks to build a solid foundation that will stand them in good stead in the years to come. While that might come with the problem or two next season, having a dependable presence like McCaffrey is going to be a massive asset for the foreseeable future.

He warrants considerable attention whenever the player is on the field. This is going to help out free-agent signing Teddy Bridgewater tremendously as the player looks to make the most of another opportunity to be a productive starter in the NFL.

Bridgewater is seen as a more reliable thrower than anything the Panthers had under center in 2019. If the former first-round pick can open up the passing game, then it should create more holes for McCaffrey to work in.

The Stanford product finished third in the charts behind Henry and Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb last season. There is nothing to suggest McCaffrey cannot climb two more steps on the ladder and claim his first rushing title since entering the league.

However, it is imperative that the Panthers do not put too much pressure on his shoulders during this period of transition. This will ensure that the player is fresh with minimal wear and tear on his body for the duration of his new deal.

There is nothing McCaffrey cannot do with the ball in his hands. He possesses an extremely rare talent and the best Panthers news of the offseason was getting him to agree to a lengthy stay with the franchise.

While it is unlikely that is going to come with immediate success, McCaffrey can still set the world alight while the team itself makes inroads into being a possible contender in the future.
