What impact can Thomas-Oliver have in 2020?

When the Carolina Panthers draft team selected Stantley Thomas-Oliver III with their final pick, they probably didn’t envisage the prospect making an immediate impression next season. What the franchise will be expecting is for the player to show growth, learn what it takes to be an NFL cornerback, and provide some useful production in the coming years.

If Thomas-Oliver can show off his skill set during training camp, it is going to do his chances of leaving his mark on the team no end of good. The incoming recruit is also expected to see the field plenty during the preseason, which will be another valuable experience for him and his overall development.

He has made a hugely encouraging start to life as a cornerback. But there are some areas of his game Thomas-Oliver will need to work on in order to make the most out of his chance at the next level.

Thomas-Oliver is an incredibly raw prospect that has yet to make full use of the skills at his disposal. His hip movement needs some significant work and the player also must polish his coverage ability to maximize his potential.

These are things that could improve with more experience at the position. But the Panthers will need to be patient with Thomas-Oliver if they want to get the best out of him long term.
