Carolina Panthers: 3 second-year players who could break out in 2020
By Dean Jones
The Carolina Panthers draft in 2019 was not littered with players that made a good impression, but could that all change next season?
The jury is still out on the Carolina Panthers draft class of 2019. Their first season in the NFL came with moderate success and it remains to be seen whether they can make strides during a shortened offseason.
New Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule will be keeping a close eye on their progress to see just what sort of impact they can make on his revamped roster. The group overall has plenty to prove after suffering struggles or seeing little of the field last season.
The organization has made a concerted effort to go younger during the offseason after parting ways with numerous veteran players. This would indicate that the class of 2019 will at least be given some sort of opportunity to prove their worth.
Some have more of a shot than others. The likes of third-round quarterback Will Grier is fighting for his place on the roster after a catastrophic time under center. And the pressure is on following the high-profile signing of XFL standout P.J. Walker.
Having little expectations on the team’s shoulders heading into the campaign will also be of benefit to players entering their sophomore professional seasons. The pressure should be off from a results perspective, although many will be fighting for their jobs with a coaching staff who were not responsible for bringing them to Carolina.
Here are three players that have a good chance of making strides in 2020.
