Much has been made about the potential surrounding quarterback Trevor Lawrence, but could the player be bound for the Carolina Panthers?

It is no secret that the Carolina Panthers are expected to struggle in 2020. They find themselves in a tough division and do not hold out much hope of securing a winning record during head coach Matt Rhule’s first season with the franchise.

Many experts predict the Carolina Panthers to have a top-end NFL Draft pick in 2021. Some even have the organization picking No. 1 overall and this puts them in position to take Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

The ‘Tank for Trevor’ talk has already begun leading into next year. The player seemed NFL-ready after just one season with the Tigers and he is widely regarded as one of the brightest signal-callers to emerge from the college system in recent memory.

He is seen as a potential generational talent that could turn the fortunes of a franchise around. The Panthers invested a lot in bringing Teddy Bridgewater into the fold during free agency. But there is an out regarding the player’s contract after the 2021 season if things do not go according to plan.

If the franchise is in a position to take Lawrence. It would be an immensely popular decision among the Panthers fanbase, most of whom have seen what the player can produce first-hand during his college career so far.

There is a lot of football to be played between now and when Lawrence hears his name called by commissioner Roger Goodell. But expectations surrounding the signal-caller are already sky-high.
