Richard Sherman

Widely regarded as one of the greatest cornerbacks of his generation, Richard Sherman played a pivotal role in the San Francisco 49ers securing the NFC Championship. He seems to be getting better with age and there is plenty to suggest the player could extend his career further than the one year currently remaining on his deal.

Sherman is one of the biggest trash-talkers in the game. Something he backs up with elite coverage that is versatile enough in man or zone schemes. He backed himself to thrive in a new environment with the Niners and has the potential to earn more than $14 million in 2020 if he reaches his incentives.

The Carolina Panthers free agency plans next season might have the financial clout to go after a big-name cornerback after they lost James Bradberry to the New York Giants this offseason. Donte Jackson will be given the opportunity to make the No.1 spot his own next season. And there are also big hopes that fourth-round pick Troy Pride Jr. can make some sort of immediate contribution on the other side.

That being said, Sherman represents a significant upgrade over both at the present time. And if he can continue his high level of production next term it is going to do his chances of earning one last lucrative contract no harm at all. And that could very well be from the Panthers free agency team.
