5 free agents the Panthers could target in 2021
By Dean Jones
Jalen Ramsey
The Los Angeles Rams gave up a lot to bring gifted cornerback Jalen Ramsey into the fold from the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, there has been no long-term deal in the offing, which leaves the Pro Bowler with plenty of uncertainty heading into the final year of his deal.
Ramsey is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL when he is firing on all cylinders. He will earn $13.7 million next season and is sure to command top dollar if he hits the free-agent market.
If the likes of head coach Matt Rhule and defensive coordinator Phil Snow do not feel comfortable with their cornerbacks next year. Then they will have little option than to pursue a top-level player in free agency. They could do a lot worse than giving Ramsey all he wants and his presence on the roster has the possibility of changing the fortunes of their defense.
The former fifth overall pick back in 2016 has more than lived up to his billing during his time in the league. Ramsey is just entering his prime, so it would be a huge shock if the Rams did not put the franchise tag on him to prevent the player from leaving for nothing.
Ramsey has game-changing potential and should warrant serious consideration from the Panthers free agency team.
