Is the Carolina Panthers’ roster overrated?

Much has been made of the key departures from the Carolina Panthers roster during a frenzied offseason of player movement. Leading figures such as Mario Addison, James Bradberry, Greg Olsen, and Cam Newton were either released or decided to take their chances elsewhere in free agency.

They were also dealt a significant blow with the shock retirement of linebacker Luke Kuechly, who is arguably the greatest ever Carolina Panthers’ player. Matt Rhule has his work cut out replacing these formidable figures and it will be interesting to see how the next batch of recruits fare in the face of such stern competition.

When one examines the Panthers roster, it is hard to see where they have been classed as overrated in any way. It is a young group of players who are going to be learning on the job. So this is going to come with some tough outings which are to be expected.

The Carolina Panthers are an after-thought when it comes to contending teams in 2020. That is a good thing to take the pressure off in the short-team. But the organization is forming some ambitious plans off the field and they will need a quality team to match when these proposals eventually come to fruition.

It is evident that the next couple of years are going to be crucial for Rhule. He has a good reputation for building up struggling college programs and there is plenty of hope he can do the same at the professional level.
