Panthers depth chart: Can DT spot set the tone in 2020?

The projected DT backups
While the starting duo at defensive tackle on the Carolina Panthers depth chart provides plenty of excitement. The options behind them are unproven and whether they can make an instant impact remains to be seen.
Head coach Matt Rhule will know plenty about what Bravvion Roy brings to the table after working with the formidable defensive tackle during their time at Baylor. He represents an intriguing development prospect that is going to learn plenty during his rookie campaign in a rotational role.
Roy is a stout run defender that has a starter ceiling if he can improve areas of his game such as interior pass rush and hand placement in the coming years.
Woodrow Hamilton and Chris Smith have bounced around various teams with little game time since they entered the NFL. They will at the very least be given a chance to earn their spot on the Panthers depth chart heading into the season during training camp.
The coaching staff is also considering the option of using Efe Obada on the interior during specialist situations. Rhule loves players with versatility and the Nigerian provides a combination of speed and power that the Panthers might not get from Derrick Brown and Kawann Short.
Others hoping to make an eye-catching impression in pursuit of a place on the 53-man roster include Zach Kerr, Austrian Robinson, and Davonte Lambert. So there are plenty of options at the position which could see it become a solid foundation for future success in Carolina.
