D.J. Moore vs Marcus Peters

One of the more intriguing matchups for however long they are on the field together during the toughest game on the Carolina Panthers preseason schedule will be the expected encounter between wide receiver D.J. Moore and cornerback Marcus Peters.

The talented wideout is coming off his first 1,000-yard campaign in 2019. And there could be more to come with a more consistent player throwing him the ball in free-agent acquisition Teddy Bridgewater.

The Panthers’ new coaching staff will find out plenty about what Moore brings to the table against Peters, who was nothing short of a revelation after arriving in a trade last year. The former first-round pick dispelled any notions of regression with an exceptional series of performances that eventually resulted in five interceptions, 14 pass deflections, and 40 solo tackles.

With the Ravens boasting another first-rounder at the other cornerback slot in the form of Marlon Humphrey, their secondary is one of their real strengths. It will be up to Moore and the Panthers offense to find whatever holes they can to further boost confidence ahead of their return to competitive action.

That will be easier said than done. But Moore has shown he is more than capable of being the No. 1 receiver and the Panthers preseason schedule should further highlight his promise.
