Is Jeremy Chinn the Panthers’ player to watch in 2020?
Can Jeremy Chinn make waves for Carolina Panthers in his rookie year?
The Carolina Panthers are going to be heavily reliant on their young defense in 2020 and beyond. It is going to be a case of learning by doing. But this might be the best possible way the franchise can unleash their potential.
The organization put a lot of faith in Jeremy Chinn and it will be up to the coaching staff to get the most out of his enormous potential. The player is a well-rounded prospect that is more than capable of producing early on. But with the Panthers’ expectations being what they are in 2020, it is essential his confidence is not knocked in any way ahead of future seasons.
Chinn’s presence on the Panthers is an intriguing one, to say the least. The franchise does have two veterans that could start at the safety position in Tre Boston and Juston Burris. However, if Chinn and fifth-rounder Kenny Robinson show out during training camp it is going to be tremendously difficult for defensive coordinator Phil Snow to keep them off the field.
Regardless of what the Panthers’ record is following the 2020 season. It is imperative that their all-defense draft gain as much as they can from their first season in the NFL. There will be plenty of inconsistent play that comes with it. But it is going to serve the organization will in the grand scheme of things.
Chinn has the potential to get better as the season goes on. Once he works out some of the kinks in his game and adjusts to the professional physicality, then the Panthers are going to have some player on their hands.
The second-rounder is going to find out the hard way given the amount of potent passing offenses he will see on Carolina’s schedule next season. How Chinn learns, adapts, and adjusts during this period is going to be critical for his long-term aspirations.
