3 toughest matchups for Derrick Brown in 2020
By Dean Jones
Graham Glasgow (Week 14 on Carolina Panthers schedule)
Another significant test for Derrick Brown will be his potential clash against Graham Glasgow of the Denver Broncos. The offensive lineman has been one of the best at the right guard position over the last three years. And he is a formidable presence to remove from the block.
The Carolina Panthers take on the Broncos in week 14 and the organization should have a better indication of what to expect from Brown long-term by this point. Glasgow will be another strong adversary with plenty to prove following a big-money move from the Detroit Lions this offseason.
Glasgow penned a four-year, $44 million deal with the Broncos during free agency. This also included a $12 million signing bonus and $26 million guaranteed to prise him away from the NFC North.
This sort of financial commitment tends to come with extra responsibility. But Glasgow looks more than ready for such expectations. He has given up just four sacks over the last three seasons, including zero sacks allowed in 2019.
The former third-round pick is also a strong presence in running situations thanks to his phenomenal lower body strength. All this points to a difficult task awaiting Brown. But one he is sure to take on with his customary determination and grit.
There will be plenty of film on Brown by this point. And familiarity is something else he will have to overcome as the season progresses.
