What would the NFL Draft for the Carolina Panthers have looked like had it gone in a different direction?

The NFL Draft is now firmly in the books. But what would have happened if the Carolina Panthers decided to go in a different direction over the three-day period?

It was a historic series of selections from the franchise, who became the first team in NFL history to allocate every pick on the defensive side of the ball. While this might not have been their intention going in, it was an area of significant need given so many seasoned veterans departed the organization during the offseason.

This gives head coach Matt Rhule and his coaching staff an exciting young defense that can hopefully turn around the fortunes of the Carolina Panthers. It is going to come with some disappointment early on. And how the group responds as the campaign wears on will be key.

There are plenty of players that the Panthers looked heavily into during the evaluation process before going another route. They were also left frustrated as their desired player was taken a few spots ahead on more than one occasion.

Everything happens for a reason in the NFL. And these elements are expected in such a frantic period that the Draft often becomes. The Panthers roster looks far better for the presence of their latest batch of college recruits, which is all one can ask for at the present time.

Each selection is always going to be measured on those that the Panthers’ passed on in their favor. We took a look at what Carolina’s draft would have looked like if they have made alternative decisions.
