Carolina Panthers; Player No. 3 – Teddy Bridgewater

The Carolina Panthers will only go as far as Teddy Bridgewater will take them. Christian McCaffrey is going to put up numbers. But if the organization does not get improved play from the quarterback spot then their fortunes will be similar that that of 2019.

Bridgewater was the highest-profile name to join the franchise in free agency. The Panthers gave him a three-year, $63 million deal in the hope he can make the most out of a more prominent starting chance and turn the fortunes of the organization around.

Although the former first-round pick has a big financial commitment from Carolina. There will be some picking the bones of almost every throw after the Panthers opted to go with Bridgewater over former MVP Cam Newton.

This could become a problem if things do not go according to plan early on. But Bridgewater is renowned for being a determined and resolute character, which should make it easy for his teammates to get behind.

His importance to the Panthers in 2020 and beyond cannot be underestimated. One could forget Bridgewater was arguably the brightest young quarterback prospect in the league before his leg injury. If he can regain some more confidence this season with more time under center then the sky is the limit.

Should things turn sour for Bridgewater and the Panthers in 2020. It might leave the franchise with no other option other than to cut their losses and take a top-tier signal-caller in the 2021 NFL Draft. This is the worst-case scenario given the hope surrounding their new recruit going into training camp.
