Khalil Mack (Week 6 on Carolina Panthers schedule)

If the Carolina Panthers want a good yardstick as to just how well Russell Okung has settled into his new surroundings. Then a week six contest against Khalil Mack and the Chicago Bears will tell them all they need to know.

The Bears paid a king’s ransom to get Mack from the Oakland Raiders via trade. And he almost single-handedly led the team back to prominence from the moment he stepped on the field.

Although things did not go according to plan for the Bears in 2020. The same cannot be said for Mack. The edge rusher was a relentless force on his way to nine sacks, four forced fumbles, and 34 solo tackles.

His ferociousness off the block is extraordinary at times. And once Mack smells blood there is little anyone can do to stop him. Even with all Okung’s experience, the likelihood of him stopping Mack alone appears slim. So it will be up to offensive coordinator Joe Brady to ensure he gets help early and often to give them the best possible chance of securing victory.

The Bears have plenty of questions to answer offensively. This area of the field played a huge factor in their eventual demise last term. But if they can work out these kinks and get more out of whatever quarterback ends up starting, then the organization could be in line for improvement.
