Cam Newton’s skill set should still be a hot commodity in the NFL. Although his passing accuracy has been somewhat underwhelming during his career with the Carolina Panthers. He possesses a rare ability to keep his eyes down the field and make plays out of nothing.

One thing the player does have going for him is throwing on the run. Newton has tremendous footwork and is able to use this to his advantage. This has seen some extraordinary plays throughout his career when all seemed lost.

This sort of unpredictability out of the pocket is an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses. Even though Newton is now 31-years-old he has relatively low mileage on the tires over the last two seasons. And the quarterback should still be able to bring this sort of element to his game whenever he next takes the field.

Newton’s style of play would seem to fit most schemes. But it is his ability to think quickly when certain plays break down that sets him apart from most others operating at the position at the top of his game.

This alone should be enough for another team to take a chance on him. And having someone like Newton waiting in the wings as a backup could inspire their No. 1 option to even better things knowing their job is on the line.
