Carolina Panthers Round 6 pick (No. 212): Jimmy Moreland – CB

The Carolina Panthers have plenty of questions to answer at the cornerback spot heading into 2020. They lost their No. 1 option in James Bradberry and others like Donte Jackson and free-agent signing Eli Apple need to step up and produce from the outset.

The organization, along with many others in the NFL Draft, missed out on a high-value selection in the sixth round when they passed on Jimmy Moreland. The corner was thrust into action by the Washington Redskins and more than held his own on a struggling defense.

Moreland has good speed and was fluid enough to suggest there might be more to come from the player. He will be tasked with being Washington’s nickel back in 2020, which might suit his skill set better than on the outside.

Carolina ended up taking offensive lineman Dennis Daley with their sixth-round pick. The player was like a rabbit in headlights against the formidable pass-rushers of the NFL during his rookie season. But there is hope within the organization that he can put his early struggles behind him with a move to the guard position.

Whether Daley can earn a starting spot on the interior with the likes of free agency signings John Miller and Michael Schofield also contending is another matter entirely.
