Carolina Panthers: Player No. 4 – Tre Boston (S)

The Carolina Panthers brought in some youthful exuberance at the safety position in the NFL Draft. But they also tied down Tre Boston to a new deal after impressing considerably in 2019.

The player made the most out of a second chance with the organization. And he was subsequently rewarded with a three-year, $18 million deal with an $8 million signing bonus and a further $8 million guaranteed.

He will be tasked with shoring up the backend of the defense once again, But his responsibilities will also include guiding the likes of second-round pick Jeremy Chinn and fifth-rounder Kenny Robinson through their in-game transitions throughout their rookie year.

Both are expected to see the field consistently on a Panthers’ defense that made a concerted effort to go younger this offseason. It will be key for Boston to stay injury-free, as putting too much pressure on their first-year duo might have a detrimental impact on their long-term aspirations at the professional level.

Boston has stayed relatively healthy throughout his career. And the Panthers outlined their confidence in a player that seemed to thrive in the big moments last season.
