Luke Kuechly might be back with the Carolina Panthers sooner than expected.

The Carolina Panthers lost a leading figure when Luke Kuechly announced his retirement with the franchise after eight exceptional seasons. They officially placed the perennial All-Pro on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday. But there is renewed hope he might be part of the staff going forward.

According to the official website of the Carolina Panthers, Kuechly is reportedly considering an offer to join the front office as a pro scout. This would see the legendary figure make an instant return to the organization. And his potential role would provide the organization with a huge lift.

Kuechly has not yet accepted the offer. But he has previously stated his ambition to move into a scouting or coaching role in the not-too-distant future.

Panthers.com writer Bill Voth released this article on the team’s website earlier today.

"“The Panthers on Tuesday officially placed linebacker Luke Kuechly on the NFL’s reserved/retired list. But Kuechly could soon be back in a new capacity. Kuechly is considering a role in the front office, where he’d join the team as a pro scout. Famous for his love of the game and hours spent dissecting film, Kuechly would be able to carry those passions over into a new career.“During his eight seasons patrolling the middle of the defense, Kuechly became one of the greatest players to wear a Panthers’ uniform. He racked up 1,092 tackles, the most in the NFL since he entered the league, and made the Pro Bowl seven times.”"

This move was met with an immensely positive response from the Panthers’ fanbase on social media. Kuechly is one of the team’s greatest ever players and his affection with those sitting in the stands became evident from the outset.

While it was probably the right call for Kuechly to make regarding his retirement. The Panthers are making a shrewd move by potentially keeping him around. His influence might be sorely missed throughout the locker room and on the field in 2020. But he has been given an offer to play a role in shaping the future of the franchise.

What could Luke Kuechly bring to a scouting role with the Carolina Panthers?

There is not much that Luke Kuechly hasn’t seen during his playing career with the Carolina Panthers. And this experience will stand him in tremendously good stead should he accept the organization’s offer.

His knowledge of the game was second to none during his career. And there is little doubt that Kuechly knows a good player when he sees one. This could prove invaluable for the Panthers, who are in the midst of a complete rebuild in the coming years.

Having Kuechly as part of the staff has the potential to do wonders for morale. There is plenty of uncertainty about Carolina’s roster heading into training camp. And if they can get someone like the former linebacker to become part of their plans. It will give the franchise a sense of familiarity and confidence that the all-time great is looking to help them progress.

Kuechly is a born winner. So if he decides to turn his hand to pro scouting, there appears little doubt he is going to thrive in the role.
