Carolina Panthers free-agent target: Brandon Carr – CB

Despite the Carolina Panthers bringing in cornerback Eli Apple on a one-year, $3 million deal last week. They could still be on the lookout for a veteran to compete at training camp.

They currently have Donte Jackson, Apple, and fourth-round pick Troy Pride Jr. definitely slotted into the roster. Corn Elder and Cole Smith are others that will fancy their chances providing they impress the new coaching staff in the coming weeks.

Brandon Carr might be in the twilight of his career. But he would be a nice pickup for the franchise at a minimal cost. He performed well for the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. And the veteran might have one more good year of production left in him.

At the very least, Carr would keep everyone on their toes during training camp and the preseason. He has been renowned for his leadership skills during his time as a profession. So his presence within the Carolina cornerback room to have positive ramifications on and off the field.

Carr still managed to secure a respectable 67.5 grade from Pro Football Focus last season. He gave up 36 receptions off 58 targets on his way to 41 combined tackles, two sacks, and six pass deflections.

The player would give the likes of Pride Jr. a strong role model during his rookie season. And this would be another substantial benefit to potentially acquiring Carr at a bargain-basement price.
