Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. WIDE RECEIVER. CAROLINA PANTHERS. D.J.MOORE. 1. player. 87

Carolina Panthers WR D.J. Moore

Carolina Panthers No. 1 wide receiver D.J. Moore broke out in 2019 becoming a standout player in just his second year. He totaled 87 receptions for 1,175 yards and four touchdowns despite the team’s quarterback play being less than stellar.

Year three is the standard-bearer campaign for progressive wideouts in the NFL. As mentioned above, Moore already made a statement last year so this year he will be looking to dominate.

Moore eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark with some inconsistent quarterback play in 2019. Quarterbacks Cam Newton, Kyle Allen, and Will Grier all took snaps for the Panthers last season. This made it difficult for the passing game to get into a rhythm.

Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will be Carolina’s starter in 2020, which should bring some much-needed stability to the position and the entire offense.

Bridgewater specializes in the short-to-intermediate passing game which is where Moore thrives. The former first-round pick is at his best when he can create separation on short routes and make plays after the catch.

The Panthers also brought in wide receiver Robby Anderson from the New York Jets. He is the perfect compliment to Moore because he can stretch the field but won’t take away many targets. Opposing teams will have to apply safety help to cover the ex-New York Jet. And this will leave Moore one-on-one in many situations.

The bottom line is that Moore was an excellent receiver last year even with all the aforementioned obstacles he had to overcome. The additions of Bridgewater and Anderson should be enough to catapult him into reaching his full potential.
