Carolina Panthers trade target: Isaiah Oliver – CB

The Carolina Panthers could still use a longer-term option to put alongside Donte Jackson going forward. They might have found a diamond in the rough after selecting Troy Pride Jr. in the fourth round. But putting too much on the incoming prospect early on could have a detrimental impact on their overall fortunes.

They brought in Eli Apple to smooth the rookie’s transition to the next level. But if they could get someone in that is capable of filling a starting spot for a prolonged period of time. Then this might be the best route to go.

There is a chance that Apple can finally realize his potential. But it’s hard to scope whether or not the player can make the most of what appears to be a final chance of being an NFL starter.

The Atlanta Falcons do have someone that would be of interest to the Panthers in the form of Isaiah Oliver, who has enjoyed mixed success since entering the NFL as a second-round pick in 2018.

Oliver was part of a Falcons’ secondary that struggled mightily in 2019. He didn’t manage to achieve a single interception and the organization drafted A.J. Terrell to possibly come in and be their No. 1 option going forward.

There is plenty to like about the skill set that Oliver brings to the table. The former Ohio State standout is a fluid mover. But he does tend to take too many risks that have proven to be his downfall.

The Falcons will probably give Oliver one more chance to show he is worthy of being a prolonged starter. He is heading into the penultimate year of his deal. So it is definitely a situation worth keeping an eye on down the line for Carolina.
