Carolina Panthers trade target: Tyeler Davison – DT

This scenario would probably come around in 2021, which would probably suit both parties better. The Carolina Panthers look set to part ways with veteran defensive tackle Kawann Short next spring thanks to his cap hit of around $20.8 million.

This would save them around $9 million, which is too much to turn down during a rebuild. There is also the slim chance that Short is not the player of old after missing most of 2019 with a torn rotator cuff. So the organization will need someone to put alongside No. 7 overall pick Derrick Brown long-term.

The Atlanta Falcons are in a similar situation regarding Tyeler Davison. They did give the player a three-year, $12 million extension this offseason. But the franchise has an out regarding his deal in 2021 that would represent $2.42 million in dead cap money.

Grady Jarrett is a star in the making and has All-Pro written all over him. And the Falcons also drafted Auburn standout Marlon Davidson in the second round. So the writing could well be on the wall for Davison if he doesn’t produce the goods in 2020.

The player earned a respectable 67.5 grade from Pro Football Focus 56 total tackles, 26 solo tackles, and a sack last season. Davison is a formidable run stuffer that does lack some pass-rushing moves. But he is a solid starter and seems like a good scheme fit for the Panthers.
